```73-year-old H from El Salvador had one question on his mind when the Powerball jackpot hit \$1.5 billion: Where can I buy a Powerball ticket? Luckily the answer was theLotter and he won the \$1 million 2nd prize in the historic draw on 13 January 2016! "I won!" he shouted out when he heard the news. He plans to travel and retire in style. Read his story here.
The minimum Powerball bet is \$2. In each game, players select five numbers from a set of 69 white balls and one number from 26 red Powerballs; the red ball number can be the same as one of the white balls. The drawing order of the five white balls is irrelevant; all tickets show the white ball numbers in ascending order. Players cannot use the drawn Powerball to match two of their white numbers, or vice versa. Players can select their own numbers, or have the terminal pseudorandomly select the numbers (called "quick pick", "easy pick", etc.).
We are proud to share the stories of theLotter's players who have won huge prizes playing the Mega Millions lottery. Nataliia from Ukraine matched the five main numbers in the draw on 26 September 2017 to become our first Mega Millions millionaire. Her Mega Millions subscription using the Quick Pick numbers not only ensured that she would never miss a single draw, but also ended up winning her a \$1 million prize!
The biggest Powerball jackpot, which is also the current lottery jackpot world record, was won on 13 January 2016! The jackpot was worth an incredible \$1.58 billion and was shared by three extremely lucky ticket holders in California, Florida, and Tennessee. The second biggest Powerball jackpot to date was awarded to a lucky lottery player from Massachusetts who won an astounding \$758.7 million jackpot in August 2017. Also notable is the story of Gloria MacKenzie, who used Quick Pick and matched all the numbers and the Powerball on 18 May 2013. The jackpot she won was worth \$590.5 million!
### Mega Millions' second-largest jackpot, \$648 million, was for the December 17, 2013 drawing. Two winning tickets, one each from California and Georgia, were sold. The holder of the Georgia ticket claimed the next morning; they selected the cash option, which amounted to \$173,819,742.50 before withholdings. The holder of the California ticket claimed on January 3, 2014. (The California ticket holder received an equal share, but potentially a larger cash-option amount, as California lottery winnings are exempt from state income tax)."[3][4][5][15] [16]
```On January 15, 2012, the price of each basic Powerball play doubled to \$2, while PowerPlay games became \$3; the minimum jackpot doubled to \$40 million.[13] A non-jackpot play matching the five white balls won \$1 million. The red balls decreased from 39 to 35.[14] The drawings were moved from Universal Studios Orlando to the Florida Lottery’s studios in Tallahassee. Sam Arlen served as host, with Alexa Fuentes substituting.
